Job description

Kelly Services is pleased to be recruiting for an experienced Terminal Operator for our client in Port Moody, BC, a leader in the oil & gas industry. This is a full-time 12-month contract with a possibility of extension.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Perform activities related to the receipt and shipping of all products and additives at the site. Ensure site operations, equipment reliability, and supply/delivery systems are maintained. Operate, maintain, and repair site facilities safely, efficiently, cost-effectively, and environmentally soundly. Participate in activities contributing to site safety, security, environmental protection, quality, and business controls, aligned with operational excellence principles.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to Level 1 and 2 tasks, a Level 3:

  • Performs duties related to maintenance, repair, and operation of the facility. May assist maintenance personnel with electrical and mechanical repairs.
  • Participates in after-hours callouts for troubleshooting, operational issues, and emergency response.
  • Supports the Site Manager in assessments, inspections, and initiatives as needed.
  • Completes site-assigned tasks in compliance with PDM procedures.
  • Provides training and mentorship to junior employees and contractors.
  • Responds to breakdowns and equipment failures.
  • Contributes to budget preparation and cost reporting.
  • Assists in staffing assessments based on experience and demand forecasts.
  • Performs functions related to rail, marine, pipeline, lube, weigh scale, truck, tank farm, aviation operations, and technical journey entry level for terminal operations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Deep knowledge of measurement practices.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word).
  • Understanding of product quality requirements.
  • Secondary/High School diploma or college degree/equivalent experience.
  • 100% completion of Stage 3 Training per GMT Standards.
  • Experience as a Terminal Operator.
  • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
