Job summary

Imperial Oil is seeking a safety-focused Terminal Operator to join the Edmonton Terminal Operations team. You will ensure safe receipt, storage, transfer, measurement, and loading of petroleum products while supporting product quality, inventory accuracy, equipment reliability, and operational excellence.

You will also provide operational support to remote facilities as needed, perform routine site rounds, and cooperate with maintenance to uphold safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Safety-focused candidate who follows PSMS and OIMS policies.
  • Experience with inventory accuracy and measurement procedures.
  • Ability to perform tank dips, rounds, and housekeeping tasks.

Responsibilities

What Role You Will Play In Our Team

Imperial Oil is seeking a safety-focused, responsible, and reliable Terminal Operator to join our Edmonton Terminal Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage, transfer, measurement, and loading of petroleum products while supporting product quality, inventory accuracy, equipment reliability, and operational excellence.

In addition to supporting Edmonton terminal and pipeline operations, the Terminal Operator may be required to provide operational support to remote facilities across Canada on an as‑needed basis.

What You Will Do
Safety & Compliance
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Imperial Oil's Personnel Safety Management System (PSMS) and Operational Integrity Management System (OIMS).
  • Execute work in accordance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify hazards, report near misses, and actively participate in safety initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency response training, exercises, and events.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and adherence to operating permits.
Terminal Operations
  • Safely receive, store, transfer, and distribute a wide variety of petroleum products.
  • Complete daily site rounds and inspections to identify equipment deficiencies, leaks, abnormal operating conditions, or safety concerns.
  • Promptly report equipment issues and operational concerns to the Process Lead.
  • Perform routine tank farm and terminal housekeeping activities.
  • Monitor truck drivers to ensure adherence to terminal access agreements.
Inventory Management & Measurement
  • Conduct tank dips to verify the accuracy of tank inventory levels and associated level and temperature measurement systems.
  • Record and maintain accurate inventory and measurement records.
  • Support product reconciliation and variance reporting activities to enable analysts and management to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Investigate and communicate inventory or measurement irregularities.
Additive Handling & Injection Systems
  • Offload additives safely and in accordance with operating procedures.
  • Perform additive injector calibrations to ensure additives are injected at the correct rates and meet product quality specifications.
  • Troubleshoot additive system issues and coordinate corrective actions when required.
Terminal Loading Operations
  • Work with the Terminal Operations Unit (TOU) to investigate and correct Bill of Lading (BOL) discrepancies.
  • Support loading rack operations and ensure accurate product transfers.
  • Assist with customer and carrier operational issues as required.
  • Investigate safety-related incidents associated with truck-loading operations.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance Support
  • Support maintenance personnel with equipment isolations, draining, de‑inventorying, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) activities
