Job Description:

NVIT anticipates the need for term instructors to teach courses within the Indigenous Human Services Certificate and invites applications from qualified candidates. Instructors will be teaching courses virtually, in conjunction with the Innu Round Table Secretariat in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Indigenous Human Service Diploma prepares learners for careers in non-profit agencies, Indigenous communities, and government. Graduates will be able to support individuals, families, and communities facing economic disadvantages, mental health issues, developmental, gender, and diversity challenges, as well as issues like addictions, family change, and justice system involvement. Learners may ladder into the Social Work Degree Program at NVIT for further education.

  • IHMS 120 - Introduction to Indigenous Studies and Human Service Practice
  • IHMS 130 - Introduction to Professional Human Service Practice
  • IHMS 140 - Introduction to Working with Substance Use
  • IHMS 150 - Introduction to the Family in Human Service Practice
  • IHMS 160 - Fieldwork Education Practicum
