The Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Université Laval ( www.gmn.ulaval.ca ) is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position in materials and metallurgical engineering with a specialization in biomaterials. The Department is composed of 16 faculty members who supervise approximately 300 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. It offers several academic programs, including bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral degrees in both mining and mineral processing engineering and materials and metallurgical engineering.
Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a strong research background in materials and metallurgical engineering with a specialization in biomaterials, as well as relevant teaching experience. The selected individual will be expected to teach in the department’s programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop an innovative and well-funded research program in biomaterials engineering fields that complements the department’s current strengths.
Selection criterias
The successful candidate must hold a bachelor's and a doctoral degree in materials engineering or a related field. The candidate must be a member (P.Eng.) of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (or another Canadian professional engineering association), or take the necessary steps to become one within two years of starting the position. Since teaching activities are conducted in French, the selected candidate must be able to communicate effectively in French, both orally and in writing, or commit to doing so within three years of appointment. Candidates whose profile and qualifications match the position will be evaluated based on the following criteria
- Quality of academic training
- Experience and potential in research, technology transfer, and scientific leadership
- Experience and potential in teaching
- Achievements in the field of biomaterials engineering
- Alignment of qualifications and experience with the position’s description
- Potential for integration and synergy with the existing faculty team
Hiring and treatment
Conditions
Academic rank will be determined based on experience, and salary will be set according to the collective agreement in effect at the time of hiring.
