Tenure-Track - Rank appropriate to applicant qualifications, Division of Respirology and Sleep Medicine – Respiratory Health Researcher with a special focus on Asthma The Division of Respirology and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan invites applications from qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position (rank appropriate to applicant qualifications) with a specific emphasis on Asthma. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to research initiatives that fit well with clinical work in the Division of Respirology and Sleep Medicine and the Department of Medicine, engaging in various research methodologies including basic and clinical laboratory research, clinical trials, population-based research, and community-based research with an asthma focus. The successful candidate will be involved with teaching, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, developing an independent research program, and contributing to activities within the division and the wider scholarly community. Candidates with interdisciplinary, collaborative research programs are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include contributing to the research presence of the Division of Respirology and Sleep Medicine by conducting implementation science and translational research, developing an externally funded research program, teaching courses, supervising and mentoring students, participating in departmental and university functions, and collaborating with other faculty to enhance interdisciplinary research at the University of Saskatchewan. Knowledge of the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy of asthma in general, and allergic asthma in particular is required. Experience in the conduct and interpretation of bronchoprovocation methods, and inhalation challenges with methacholine and allergen method is preferred. Additional methodological and interpretation expertise in investigations used to study asthma pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy including but not limited to sputum induction and processing, FeNO determination, mannitol challenge testing and skin prick testing is valued. Applicants must have a health field-related Ph.D. and at least 2 years’ post-doctoral research experience in respiratory medicine. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Proficiency in traditional and modern basic laboratory skills and techniques are required. Qualifications include evidence of developing and submitting research fellowships or grant applications, leading research projects, research productivity including a strong publication record, teaching experience, interdisciplinary approaches, and demonstrated capacity for scholarship and professional activities. Connections to respiratory-related research ongoing in other Canadian provinces is strongly preferred. Salary band for the position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,909; Associate Professor: $131,909 to $153,329; Professor: $153,329 to $178,319. A starting salary above the standard salary band is possible pursuant to Article 18.2.6.12 of the 2017-2023 USFA Collective Agreement (see:http://careers.usask.ca/agreements/usfa/usfa-18-ranks-and-salaries.php.
