Atira Property Management is seeking a Tenant Support Worker to assist residents in Downtown Eastside Vancouver. This part-time role offers 16 hours of work weekly with a focus on supporting individuals facing challenges such as substance use and mental wellness. Candidates must have relevant qualifications and experience in community support, and a commitment to anti-oppression work.
Type : Internal & External Candidates Part-Time (Indeterminate)
Hours of Work : Ave.16 hr. per week; Fridays & Saturday; Day (from 7 : 30 a.m. to 4 : 00 p.m.)
Compensation : $20.56 hr.
Program & Location : Hotel Canada- Downtown East side Vancouver
Union : BC Government Employees Union (BCGEU)- This position requires union membership

The Opportunity :
Reporting to the Program Manager the Tenant Support Worker is responsible for the day-to-day work of supporting residents with a wide array of emotional and practical supports. Activities include but are not limited to assessing the general well-being of residents and making referrals to service providers helping develop safety plans conducting regular safety checks liaising with relevant community partners regarding residents various other needs providing one-to-one support accompaniments and advocacy actively helping residents keep their rooms clean and prepare for pest control and preparing and delivering food.

You are flexible and open to taking on diverse tasks whenever needed. You are a quick thinker who is able to make decisions without agonizing and who knows when to reach out to others for guidance and support. You embrace the mission vision values and philosophy of Atiras parent Society. You put residents first and work to include them in all of the decisions that affect their lives. You have a well-developed understanding of and commitment to anti-oppression work and intersectionality. You are familiar with colonialism fand you understand the ongoing impact of the residential school system. You are committed to working with residents who may be struggling with substance use brain trauma and cognitive impairment and or mental wellness. You understand and are comfortable working within a harm reduction environment and while you support tenants who choose abstinence you understand abstinence is just one option for those struggling with substance use.
You have at minimum a diploma or certificate in a relevant discipline (e.g. community support worker mental health and addictions worker or social services worker) with a minimum of one year of experience (depending on education) as a support worker working with people affected by trauma and who may also struggle with substance use and or mental wellness. The equivalent combination of relevant experience and applicable skill-based training may be considered. Lived expertise is an asset as is living in the community in which you work. Additional Requisites / Assets :
A valid First Aid is required.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate is an asset
Food safe certification is also an asset.
