Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Contribute to timely completion of doubled haploid projects via microspore extractions and embryo plating.
• Document recalcitrant genotypes and record protocol adjustments for embryogenesis.
• Coordinate marker screening of doubled haploid plantlets with the molecular team.
• Adhere to QA processes to ensure gene purity of doubled haploid genotypes.
• Label and select donor plants, tissue culture material, and plantlets.
• Complete data collection and assist with experiments; summarize results.
• Support lab activities including media prep, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping.
• Provide support in greenhouse, field, pathology, and molecular lab work as needed.
• Assist Growth Facilities activities, including harvesting and sample collection.
• Assist routine plant maintenance and maintain clean work areas.
• Prepare plant samples for DNA extraction and provide molecular lab support.
• Model safety through PPE use and safety protocol adherence.
• Demonstrate willingness to take on additional tasks to meet objectives.

What You'll Do:

• Contribute to the timely completion of doubled haploid projects through microspore extractions, embryo plating, subculture/plantlet transfers, ploidy analysis, and doubled haploid plantlet planting
• Document recalcitrant genotypes and record any adjustments in the protocol used to achieve embryogenesis
• Coordinate marker screening of doubled haploid plantlets with the molecular team
• Adhere to quality assurance processes and standard operating procedures to ensure the gene purity of all doubled haploid derived genotypes
• Accurately label and select donor plants, tissue culture material, and doubled haploid plantlets
• Complete data collection according to established procedures
• Assist with experiments and maintain, organize, and summarize experimental results
• Actively contribute to team activities such as media preparation, equipment maintenance, lab housekeeping, and protocol improvement efforts
• As requested, provide support in greenhouse, field, pathology, and molecular lab work activities
• Support Growth Facilities activities, including harvesting plant material and collecting samples according to established procedures
• Assist with routine plant maintenance, including watering, transplanting, labeling, monitoring plant health, and maintaining clean work areas
• Provide molecular laboratory support by preparing plant samples and assisting with DNA extraction activities
• Model our core value of safety by always utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols

• Demonstrate willingness and enthusiasm to complete additional tasks to meet business objectives

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Biology, or related field is required. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education requirements
