Are you a detail-oriented and analytical professional looking to drive improvements in metering processes?

This position is responsible for the creation of controls, tools, reports, dashboards, and analytics to support Network Metering processes, including inventory management, budgeting, departmental performance, compliance requirements, and work planning. This role focuses on providing transparency and analytics that enhance accuracy, optimization, continuous improvements, and data-driven decision-making across all Metering functions.

What you’ll do

Development and Maintenance of Tools and Reports

  • Suggest, develop, and maintain tools and reports to manage metering activities, including new connections, meter failures, sampling and reverifications, wholesale metering activities, compliance requirements, audit status, work planning, productivity, and other meter and equipment renewal programs.
  • Develop controls and documentation to support Metering processes.

Data Integration and Reporting

  • Integrate multiple datasets to create comprehensive and actionable reports and dashboards that provide program status updates and facilitate efficient work planning and assignment.
  • Generate reports, visualizations, and dashboards to effectively communicate metering insights.

Budgeting and Business Case Support

  • Support the development of annual budgets and business cases; track and report monthly deviations from budgets.

Procurement and Invoicing

  • Develop controls and reporting to support procurement and invoicing activities.

Inventory and Meter Status Analysis

  • Create controls and reporting to summarize meter status, including inventory levels, failure rates, scrapping outcomes, sampling program status, and utilization rates.

Audit and Compliance Support

  • Support Measurement Canada and ISO:9001 audits by providing reports and analysis on nonconformances and records. Track data on Non-conformance Reporting (NR) and Corrective Action Reports (CAR) and perform analytics for trending.
  • Provide data and analysis for quarterly and yearly Quality Management Review Team meetings.

Collaboration and Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, IT, Regulatory, and Billing, to ensure data and reporting integrity.
  • Utilize data analytics methodologies to identify opportunities for process improvement, recommend changes for operational efficiencies, and identify risks.

Training and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Train and educate employees on metering analytics tools, methodologies, and best practices to enhance data literacy within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other workgroups and stakeholders, including Customer Service, internal customers, and service support staff.

Who you are

Education & Technical Knowledge

  • A Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related field is required.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with MS Office applications (Word & Excel)
  • Knowledge of the Measurement Canada Act and Regulations, OEB regulations, ESA regulatory legislation, and other codes, rules and regulations related to electricity metering
  • Familiarity with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems and smart meter technologies
  • Knowledge of Alectra Utilities’ Field Activity processes and systems considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Alectra Utilities’ business systems used by Network Metering considered an asset

Experience

  • Requires a minimum of 3 years related experience
  • Utility experience an asset
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and programming languages such as SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex data sets.
  • Ability to develop and implement data analytics methodologies for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy and quality.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in the metering field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
