Job summary

The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with special needs, including physical, intellectual disabilities and behavioral or learning challenges. The successful candidate will provide academic, physical and emotional support to promote independence and individual talents within the school setting.

This role is 33.83 hours per week, with the schedule set by the Principal and a focus on collaborative teamwork within the school

Qualifications

• Relevant training in behaviour management (e.g., BMS).
• Experience with Special Needs students and challenging behaviour.
• Ability to work well in a team with students, parents and staff.
• Two to three years of prior experience with Special Needs students.
• Strong interpersonal skills with children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with academic and emotional support for students with exceptional needs.
• Collaborate with the school team to develop individualized plans.
• Support physical needs and promote student independence.
• Apply behaviour management strategies under supervision.
