Job description

Temporary Secretary (C) - Chalmers Street PS Educational Services

Applicants will be considered in the following order:

  1. Qualified permanent ESS/OSSTF Bargaining Unit employees.
  2. Qualified probationary, temporary, and Temporary Hourly Rated (THR) ESS/OSSTF employees.
  3. Qualified external applicants (including employees from other Bargaining Units).

Reporting to the Principal, through the Head Secretary, the successful candidate will support the activities of the administrative staff in the day-to-day operation of the school. This Temporary Educational Support Staff position Level C involves working 14 hours per week, 10 months per year, from August 25, 2025, to June 30, 2026. Hours of work are to be determined.

Responsibilities
  • Support the school's vision, philosophy, and procedures.
  • Maintain positive and professional interactions with students, staff, and parents.
  • Handle telephone and reception duties.
  • Maintain and update the Aspen student information system.
  • Assist students and staff as required.
  • Perform additional duties such as attendance, budgeting, newsletter, report cards, ordering supplies, video/kit requests, and mail distribution.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the school’s administrative team.
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) in a Windows environment.
  • Experience with K212 and G-Suite.
  • Experience with Aspen Student Information System and maintaining data integrity.
  • Knowledge of Google Docs and School-Day is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Knowledge of school budgeting; experience with web-based report cards is an asset.
