The County of Riverside's Temporary Assignment Program seeks qualified candidates to fill future vacancies for the Department of Public Social Services, Children Services Division (Harmony Haven) in Beaumont, California.
Under general supervision, provides direct care for children and youth ages birth to 17 years in protective custody and awaiting placement in a residential setting at Harmony Haven Children and Youth Center. Incumbents perform routine duties involving supervision and care of children, including observing and documenting their behavior, development, and needs, instructing them on essential life skills, and supporting their overall daily needs.
The department desires candidates with professional experience working with children.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Incumbents must be comfortable working in environments that include walking on uneven terrain and working near wild animals such as snakes, bobcats, raccoons, etc. This includes working in the evening or overnight shifts.
**IMPORTANT! All applicants must meet the age requirement of at least 21 years of age as per the California Department of Social Services. Applicants under 21 are not eligible for positions at Harmony Haven but may apply for other divisions or departments.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of public social service programs, laws, and regulations; behavioral patterns of disadvantaged children; cultural attitudes; interviewing and problem-solving principles; child development; group dynamics; emergency procedures; and Welfare and Institutions Code.
Ability to work effectively with diverse agencies and individuals; evaluate and monitor children's progress; understand psychological and social factors; explain procedures; interpret policies; read and interpret information; and interact effectively across cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
