Job summary

The Bridge Youth & Family Services in Kelowna, BC is seeking a Residence Worker for a temporary full-time role (35 hours/week) until the incumbent returns. You will help residents gain life skills, support independence, and assist with daily living activities, education and employment access.

Compensation ranges from CAD 27.89 to 32.49 per hour with evening shift premiums; benefits include extended health, pension, vacation, wellness day, and more after probation.

About the Role

The Bridge requires Residence Workers to provide and/or facilitate access to life skill training that promote independence, community integration, the development of personal support systems and housing stability. The positions support residents at our Kelowna location to achieve goals in their Individual Care Plans through activities in daily living, psychosocial rehabilitation and education, preparation for independent living, and access to vocational, educational and employment services as appropriate. The Residence Workers actively contribute to the safety, security and comfort of the residence.

Positions: TemporaryFull-Time, 35 hours per week until return of incumbent.

Compensation:$27.89 - $32.49 per hour plus applicable shift premiums

  • Evening shift premium – additional $3.50 per hour between 1900hr-0700hr

Indirect Compensation

  • Extended Health and Dental benefits after the 3-month probationary period
  • Municipal Pension Plan Enrollment/Portability with 9.31% Pension matching after the 3-month probationary period or upon hire, depending on current Pension enrollment status
  • 3 weeks vacation pay which increases with length of service.
  • 1 paid wellness day per year
  • Paid birthday off
  • Paid sick time which increases with length of service.

Qualifications

Education and experience

  • Diploma in Human Service Work, Community Service Work, or other related field.
  • Two years of experience working with addiction and mental health.

Job skills and abilities

  • Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively with program team, social workers, and other community professionals.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills
  • Food preparation and cleaning skills.

Other requirements

  • Criminal record check in accordance with agency policy.
  • Employees must declare their vaccination status for COVID-19 and influenza; if vaccinated, documentation must be provided
  • Valid Unrestricted BC Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation.
  • First Aid certificate - preferred-but willing to train
  • WHIMS- preferred - but willing to train
  • Food Safe- preferred - but willing to train
