Job summary

A regional electrical utility in Greater Sudbury seeks a Temporary Powerline Technician “A” for up to one year. The role includes constructing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical systems while adhering to safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have Journeyman certification, relevant experience, and a valid Ontario driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Powerline Technician Certification is essential.
  • Must possess a Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma.
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, operate, and maintain electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform duties in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Work on system potentials up to 44kV.

Skills

GREATER SUDBURY HYDRO INC. has an opening for a TEMPORARY POWERLINE TECHNICIAN “A” (UP TO 1 YEAR).

GSU requires a Temporary Powerline Technician “A”. The Powerline Technician will construct, operate and maintain the overhead and underground electrical distribution systems within GSU’s service area stationed from our 500 Regent St, Sudbury location.

Responsibilities

The Powerline Technician will: construct, operate, and maintain overhead and underground electrical distribution systems within GSU’s service area, based at our Sudbury location; perform duties in accordance with applicable safety requirements and regulations; work on system potentials up to and including 44kV.

Qualifications
  • Journeyman Powerline Technician Certification licensed to work in Ontario
  • Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma
  • Class “ARZ” Driver’s License is an asset
  • Knowledge of E&USA Safety Rules, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Utility Work Protection Code and all other applicable legislation
  • Experience in all aspects of electrical utility distribution work, overhead or underground, on system potentials up to and including 44kV
  • A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required
  • This is a temporary position for a duration of up to one year
