As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.**Mission Statement** The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.**Job Description:**Temporary Part Time House Support Worker, Saturday & Sunday, 7:30 am - 7:30 pm.Averaging Agreement. **Position Purpose summary:**House Support worker provides a safe and secure environment for residents and visitors **Accountabilities:**The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below: **CHARACTERISTIC JOB DUTIES:**The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties, typical of the job class:* Monitors the environment and clients/residents to ensure safety and security; completes regular client/resident status checks and room searches as required* Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation (including in-out and incident log books) related to clients/residents and initiates any new documentation* Provides laundry service for the shelters and shelter clients* Cleans shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchen, lounge and common areas and performs basic building maintenance* complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army* Coordinates and facilitates resident programming as required* Performs intake and discharge procedures for clients/residents as assigned* Monitors appropriate behavior; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as required* Distributes funds to residents in accordance with established policies guidelines* Engages in the development of inter-personal relationships that promote dignity and respect* Liaises with Police, funders, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members* Provides orientation to newly hired staff, volunteers, students* Attends 4 mandatory in-person staff meetings a year* Performs other duties as assignedNOTE: Not all incumbents perform all of the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.Health & Safety (if applicable): The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor to moderate injury or illnesses due to:* Physical attacks by others* Exposure to infectious diseases* Exposure to bodily fluids and bodily waste* Sharp objectsOther dangerous situations **Working Conditions:** The incumbent’s work environment is typically in a shelter and/or in treatment facilities.
