The Dryden Regional Health Centre is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented professional for the following position:

Temporary Full-Time Shift Manager

Reporting to the Director of Inpatient & Emergency Services, the Shift Manager is a member of the Operations Management & Leadership team. The role involves working collaboratively with Nursing Leadership to oversee day-to-day operations in the nursing units, and in the absence of other managers (evenings, weekends, and holidays), managing all hospital departments. The Shift Manager maintains clinical skills and knowledge to serve as a reliable resource for staff, using leadership skills, management tools, and decision-making understanding to achieve departmental goals aligned with the organization's Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan, as well as adhering to Standards and Best Practices.

Requirements

  • Uphold the Standards of Behaviour daily through interactions as an employee of Dryden Regional Health Centre.
  • Promote best practices for standards of care.
  • Work with nursing staff to promote and restore patients' health through management and planning of patient care, staff development, collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and providing support for patients and families.
  • Conduct patient and ward rounds regularly to assess acuity and staffing, ensuring patients and families are informed about patient rights and discharge planning.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care continually.
  • Manage workload and create nursing assignments.
  • Collaborate with the unit manager to provide feedback on workload, ensuring patient safety and fiscal responsibility, in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Maintain a healthy, collaborative team environment.
  • In the absence of the unit manager, address staff issues, document appropriately, and inform leadership.
  • Participate in staff mentoring and educational opportunities.
  • Take a leading role in patient flow and movement, including bed assignments and travel arrangements for treatments and discharges.

Qualifications

  • BScN, PN Diploma, or equivalent with registration in a healthcare-related field.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario for RNs/RPNs; appropriate governing body registration for related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years healthcare experience; nursing experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience is an asset.
  • Strong clinical background with health assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • BLS, Advanced Life Support, Neonatal/Pediatric Life Support, Trauma Core Course are assets.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Demonstrates behaviors aligned with the Centre's Code of Conduct and Core Values: Accountability, Integrity, Humility, Compassion, and Respect.
  • Proof of full Covid-19 vaccination prior to hire.

This is a management position with a salary of $59.57 - $61.11 per hour, plus up to 23% in lieu of vacation and benefits. Applications should be sent to hr@drhc.on.ca.
