Job Description

The Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse, reporting to the Clinical Manager for the Complex General Psychiatry C (CGPC) inpatient unit and the Recovery Activation Community Transition (ReACT) service. As an RPN, you will provide specialized care to patients with complex mental illnesses, using ReACT principles rooted in a recovery-focused model of care, built on compassion, inspiration, and hope.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialized mental health nursing care to clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, families, multidisciplinary teams, referral sources, and community partners to facilitate recovery and successful discharge planning.
  • Implement recovery-oriented practices and uphold standards of practice as per the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Qualifications
  • Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Current CPR – Health Care Provider (HCP).
  • Minimum of 5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of CNO Standards of Practice, Canadian Standards for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, and relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, documentation, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of recovery principles and experience working with diverse populations.
Additional Details

This position is part of the OPSEU bargaining unit. The job posting closes on May 7th, 2025. This is a 1-year contract, part-time employment, with a pay rate of $20.00-$25.00 per hour.
