JOB DESCRIPTION

Ontario Shores is currently seeking an Occupational Therapist (OT), reporting to a Manager within ICAP. Primary responsibilities will be to the Anxiety and Mood Clinic.

The OT will possess sound knowledge of clinical occupational therapy work in the area of mental health and addiction issues and in particular in the delivery of services using CBT and IPT. Responsibilities include : psychosocial assessments; individual therapy, group therapy; clinic work, liaison with community social agencies; active involvement as a member of a multidisciplinary team and planning to meet the recovery needs of the discharging client.

Requirements

• Masters in Occupational Therapy, or equivalent, required.
• Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) in good standing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of COTO Standards of Practice.
• Experienced in the delivery of manualized psychotherapy
• 3-5 years of recent psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is preferred
• Community mental health service provision experience is required
• Training and / or experience in facilitating psychoeducational groups
• Understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required
• Experience with presentations is an asset.
• The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and experience with case management, clinical assessment, intervention and documentation of care.
• The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral / written communication skills
• Current CPR-HCP is required.
• The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
• Must have the ability to perform the physical demands of the position
