Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs.
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required.
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher.
• Assist with safe transitions and behaviour/safety plans.
• Supervision of intensive needs students and small groups.
• Possibility of transporting students in a personal vehicle.

Equivalent to 6 hours per day student days

Duties

In addition to those duties outlined in the job description, duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with 2 man lift or mechanical lift
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher
• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults
• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required
• Supervision of intensive needs student(s) as well as small groups of students as required

Salary & Benefits

• Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated CUPE Collective Agreement as listed on our website www.secpsd.ca. The starting wage for this position is currently $20.12/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
