Job summary

Midale Central School, part of South East Cornerstone Public School Division, seeks an Educational Assistant for a temporary assignment from September 2, 2026 to December 22, 2026. The role supports students with diverse and behavioral needs, working approximately 6 hours per day on student days at Midale SK.

The successful candidate will assist with life skills and academic programming, attend to medical needs, and may transport students.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to adapt to change and work flexibly.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
• Valid driver’s license and basic computer skills for learning software.

Responsibilities

• Support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs.
• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required).
• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required.
• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher.
• Focus on transitioning the student to work with other students and adults.
• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created for students as required.
• Supervision of intensive need student(s) and small groups as required.

Equivalent to 6 hours per day student days

Duties

In addition to those duties outlined in the , duties include supporting students with diverse needs and/or high behavioral needs. The successful applicant may be required to perform the following:

• Lifting - Ability to lift up to 60 pounds without a lift and up to 120 pounds with a 2 man lift or mechanical lift


• Transport students (personal vehicle may be required to transport)


• Attend to personal hygiene and medical needs as required


• Prepare and plan student-based life skills and academic programming under direction of teacher


• Focus on successfully transitioning the student to be able to work with other students and adults


• Focus on behaviour and safety plan created specifically for students as required


• Supervision of intensive need student(s) as well as small groups of students as required

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma from an institution recognized by the Board of Education


• Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and be flexible


• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as an effective team member


• Valid driver's license


• Demonstrated knowledge of school computer software such as word processing and computer assisted learning software


• An educational assistant or equivalent diploma, NVCI, First Aid, Autism and Behavioral educational background will be considered assets


• Commitment to the ideals of public education as well as the mission, vision and guiding principles of the South East Cornerstone Public School Division

Salary & Benefits

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the currently negotiated SEIU-West Collective Agreement as listed on our website . The starting wage for this position is currently $21.93/hour along with a full benefit package and an employer defined pension plan.
