Job description

Temporary/Casual Secretarial/Clerical Support Staff (THRs) All Schools

The Waterloo Region District School Board is accepting applications on an ongoing basis for Temporary/Casual Secretarial/Clerical Support Staff positions. Assignments may be located at any of the schools in our region or at the Education Centre and require flexible availability. Successful candidates will be contacted for secretarial skills testing and an interview process.

Wage Rate: $20.68 per hour

Applicants must have:

  1. A Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent education
  2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel in a Windows XP environment
  3. Working knowledge of GSuite
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills
  5. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  6. Effective written and oral communication skills
  7. Willingness to acquire skills in Board-specific programs e.g., Aspen
  8. 2-5 years of recent office or customer service experience
  9. Availability to accept casual assignments during the day and on short notice

Preferred qualifications: Prior secretarial experience in an educational setting; experience in customer service, library, reception/switchboard, accounts payable/receivable, or payroll.

Additional requirements: A Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check is mandatory and must be completed before attending the THR Orientation. Please note that obtaining this check may take several weeks.
