Position Overview

The City of Saint John is seeking a temporary Assistant Building Inspector to ensure that construction and occupancy of buildings, as well as other property-related activities, meet standards set by building codes and by-laws. The role involves verifying that work related to design during the permitting process complies with established standards. The Assistant Building Inspector collaborates with individuals to achieve compliance before more corrective actions are necessary.

Salary: $59,613.00 - $89,498.00 per year

Job Type: Temporary Full-Time

Closing Date: May 29, 2025

Essential Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or an equivalent two-year program.
  • Membership in the NBSCETT required once eligible.
  • Level 3 certification in the NBBOA to be obtained during employment.

Eligible for a Flexible Time Options Program, including a 4 or 5-day work week, depending on business needs.
