Position Description
A temporary full-time Speech Language Pathologist is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North), effective September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Learning Services.

Duties
- Providing SLP services to students from K-12, with a focus on early years (K-3).
- Communicating and collaborating with other professionals, including school-based teams and Learning Services staff.
- Using formal and informal measures to evaluate students' speech, language, and communication development.
- Communicating assessment results to parents/guardians and educators, involving them in decision-making around supports.
- Providing support within the RTI tiered model, including classroom education, focused group interventions, and individual therapies.
- Creating goals for students and overseeing the implementation of interventions via Speech-Language Assistants and Educational Assistants.
- Assisting in the creation and monitoring of IEP goals.
- Recommending and assisting in the setup and implementation of AAC systems.
- Maintaining appropriate documentation and reporting for student files.
- Initiating referrals to other district staff, agencies, and community professionals in collaboration with school teams.
- Other related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Masters Degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
- Eligibility for Speech-Language and Audiology Canada certification or equivalent.
- Membership in the College of Health & Care Professionals of BC.

- Successful experience working with school-age children, including children with Autism and developmental delays.
- Ability to work successfully with school teams to provide interventions at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels of support.
- Willingness to work collaboratively to design interventions for speech and language development.
- Experience and knowledge in AAC systems such as TouchChat, Proloquo2Go, etc.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Valid BC driver’s license and use of personal vehicle.
- Ability to participate in meetings beyond the regular school day to support learning.
- Ability to plan and facilitate in-services or collaboration sessions with educators and Educational Assistants within and beyond the regular school day.

- Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate).
Compensation
- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB, and Yukon; up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.
- $3,035 recruitment allowance, paid over 10 months based on FTE.
- Salary as per collective agreement, current grid from $65,397 to $111,952.
- Benefits as per collective agreement, including options for medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance, employer-paid based on FTE.
