Job description

Position Description

A temporary full-time (1.0) Primary Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North), effective September 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Charlie Lake Elementary School.

Charlie Lake Elementary is a semi-rural school situated 10 minutes from the community of Fort St. John. We enroll a population of 320 students. An integral part of our school framework is focusing on shared leadership, with students, staff, and the larger school community. For more information, visit our website or our Facebook page.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning, with demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school environment where every student feels a sense of belonging
  • Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term considering class composition
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with staff to enhance student learning
  • Proactive classroom management practices that maintain student dignity
  • Assessment practices that promote student learning and dignity

  • Three (3) references
  • Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
Compensation
  • $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB, and Yukon; up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
  • $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months, based on FTE)
  • Salary as per collective agreement, current grid $65,397 - $111,952
  • Benefits as per collective agreement, including options for medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance, employer-paid based on FTE
