Job description

Job Summary :

We are looking for a Telecommunications Technician to join a new Gestrago subsidiary specializing in telecommunications. The candidate will play a key role in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications networks, contributing to the quality and reliability of projects delivered to clients.

Main Responsibilities :

  1. Installation and Cabling :
  • Install and connect fiber optic cables, structured cabling, and other telecom equipment;
  • Perform fiber optic fusion in compliance with quality standards and project requirements;
  • Install, configure, and test network equipment (routers, switches, etc.).
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting :
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of telecommunications installations;
    • Diagnose and resolve connectivity or equipment issues at customer sites;
    • Use specialized tools (OTDR, splicers, cable testers, etc.) to ensure installation reliability.
  • Documentation and Reporting :
    • Write reports on work performed, including test and inspection results;
    • Ensure regular updates to equipment and material inventories used.
  • Compliance and Safety :
    • Comply with occupational health and safety standards and regulations applicable to telecom projects;
    • Work in compliance with the company's internal policies and procedures.

    Job Requirements :

    • DEP or DEC in telecommunications, electricity, or a related field;
    • Experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, and/or telecom equipment installation (an asset);
    • Knowledge of specialized tools such as OTDRs and fiber optic splicers;
    • Good physical ability to work in various environments (indoors, outdoors, at heights);
    • Valid driver's license (travel required);
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
