DPHV is a specialized consulting engineering firm that has been providing professional and technical expertise in structural engineering for over 30 years. The experience and know-how of our team have earned us an outstanding reputation in the industry. In other words, we offer the technical capabilities of a large firm combined with the flexibility and human approach of an independent company. Join our team and enjoy the best of both worlds!

This opportunity is within our Fabrication & Construction Engineering Team, located at our Laval office, in the Sainte-Dorothée district.

About the Role

The TEKLA Coordinator Technician will be an integral member of our Fabrication and Construction Engineering team. This role plays a key part in coordinating the technical aspects of 3D models used for the fabrication and construction of large-scale steel structures.

With strong technical expertise and advanced 3D modeling skills, the successful candidate will serve as the link between engineering concepts and the drawings/models produced by our detailing subcontractors, ensuring their accuracy and compliance. Highly proficient in reading structural drawings, the TEKLA Coordinator Technician has substantial experience in collaborative 3D modeling environments and can independently manage all aspects of 3D modeling, including detailing columns, beams, connections, sizing requirements, and drawing annotations required to produce fabrication drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze, understand, and interpret project information while ensuring consistency and accuracy of documentation.
  • Coordinate projects between clients and steel detailing subcontractors.
  • Prepare RFIs (Requests for Information) and provide responses as needed to support drawing reviews through client approval.
  • Determine and calculate functional, physical, dimensional, structural, and geometric constraints of components.
  • Produce shop drawings and assembly drawings using TEKLA Structures (3D) for the fabrication of steel structure components.
  • Develop and maintain DPHV drafting standards.
  • Produce erection drawings, including all required sections and details.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and communicate regularly with project managers.
What We Are Looking For
  • Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Strong interest in steel detailing and structural drafting.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role (ideally 5 years or more).
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written (required).
  • Strong command of English, both spoken and written (required, as most of our clients and detailing partners are located outside Canada).
  • ASP Construction Health and Safety certification.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Customer service mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, and take initiative.
Why Join DPHV?
  • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, with every hour worked either paid or accumulated as additional time off.
  • Vacation and paid sick leave.
  • Comprehensive group insurance program including life insurance, short- and long-term disability, prescription drugs, paramedical services, and travel insurance for you and your family.
  • Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), allowing employees to benefit from the company’s success through a registered savings plan.
  • Stimulating and supportive work environment.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Career growth opportunities through coaching and mentorship programs.
  • Team-building and social activities held throughout the year.
  • Casual dress code.
