Job summary

A community organization in Montreal is seeking a Teen Facilitator to develop and implement programs for teens aged 13-17. Overview

The Côte-des-Neiges Black Community Association (CDNBCA) is seeking an experienced animator with skills in strategy development, program development and recruitment for ages 13-17 to take on the role of Teen Facilitator. The organization’s mission is to support the development of social, cultural, educational and economic institutions in the community, and to establish partnerships to provide effective services and programs that address community needs.

Position: Teen Facilitator

Responsibilities
  • Outreach to teens for the leadership program and youth committee; promote activities at schools, youth centres, and online.
  • Facilitate sessions, workshops, and activities that build leadership, life skills, and positive peer culture.
  • Set up spaces, materials and equipment; take attendance; track participation and basic metrics.
  • Mentor participants, model pro-social behaviour, and foster a safe, inclusive and culturally affirming environment.
  • Maintain clear, respectful communication with parents/guardians as needed; promptly relay concerns to the Program Manager.
  • Follow safety protocols; provide basic first aid (if certified); complete incident reports and ensure timely follow-up with the Program Manager.
  • Use trauma-informed and strengths-based strategies to de-escalate and redirect challenging behaviour.
  • Help track supplies and keep program areas tidy and organized.
  • Administer short surveys, collect feedback and assist with simple data entry to inform program improvements.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Studies or past work experience in social services fields such as applied social sciences, child studies, sociology, psychology, community recreation and/or leadership training.
  • Bilingual (French and English spoken).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • CPR Training (preferred).
  • Dynamic, autonomous and self-starter.
