Work Location: East and West Pilbara (All Exploration sites), Western Australia.

Roster: 8D/6R, ex Perth.

Reporting to the Village Technology Superintendent, the Technology Site Specialist will be responsible for ongoing Technology support of the Fortescue Exploration sites across the East and West Pilbara. The expectation for this role is to ensure reliability and availability of critical technology-based hardware and communication platforms that service Fortescue’s Exploration sites (fixed and remote camps).

The role is based on a 14-month fixed term contract period to cover for leave requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work very autonomously and be accountable for site Technology, this includes Desktop, Servers, Networking, Printers, UHF, Starlink and Software queries
  • Manage all aspects of Technology queries across the Pilbara Exploration operations from a varied customer base
  • Adherence to safety management systems and risk identification methodologies
  • Log all issues in the ITSM toolset (Service Now) and liaise and communicate IT related work to the business representative of the designated site.
  • Create, develop and update support documentation for the site (Orion), raise issues or suggestions for improvements to support documentation where possible with peers or other IT teams across Fortescue.
  • Act as an escalation point amongst peers, providing peer support and guidance where possible, coordinate work at site when delegated by other FIT teams.
  • Work with the Remote Camp Services team with the relocation of comms equipment for caravan camps and new office installations, which includes setting up comms racks and installing required communications switches, Wi-Fi AP’s and backhaul Satellite links
  • Provide on-call after-hours support as required for critical communications infrastructure
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of IT operational experience, covering standard office applications, operating systems and networking.
  • Skills with Ubiquiti Technologies and Satellite back haul solutions.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Orion, and Communication Networks (including UHF and LEO Satellite services).
  • Proven track record in providing support to a diverse and busy environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, or related experience.
  • Certification in ITIL, Microsoft, Customer Service Certification (highly desirable).
  • Strong time management & organisational skills, able to prioritise & multitask, be proactive and work autonomously.
  • Proven IT change management, incident and problem management skills.
  • Working at Heights, and First Aid training (desirable).
