Title: Technology Architect

Location: Toronto, ON

Duration: 12 Month

Description

Deliverables: IT Solutions Development

The resources will enhance the core EPPDS Solution and Build team by gathering requirements, conducting comprehensive assessments, and designing solutions that align with ITS standards for the cloud. Additionally, they will build, activate, and create application resources, assisting clusters with the migration of key components. They will serve as SMEs to ensure a successful cloud migration while maintaining the integrity and availability of the applications.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Support environment updates and delivery pipelines by writing and maintaining code.
2. Integrate and secure cloud services for applications.
3. Create technology patterns for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, including low-code and no-code deployments.
4. Support the Go-CLOUD product maturity by implementing products and features.
5. Contribute to the product roadmap creation, service material, process refinement, and communication plans.

The resources will act as subject matter experts on various cloud project initiatives, such as:

1. Enabling and designing the Government of Ontario's clouds, primarily Azure and AWS.
2. Designing and configuring advanced security for existing and new cloud providers.
3. Assisting with complex migrations from on-premise to public cloud providers.
4. Updating and creating provisioning pipelines for the Government Cloud offerings by writing and maintaining a provisioning code base for infrastructure delivery, as well as data gathering and reporting.

1. Technical Expertise - 20%

Parameters:

1. Proficiency in designing and implementing cloud solutions, particularly with platforms like Azure and AWS.

4. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools.

7. Understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, and VPNs.
8. Skills in monitoring cloud resources and optimizing performance and cost.

2. Migration Expertise - 25%

Parameters:

1. Ability to conduct thorough assessments of existing infrastructure and applications to develop comprehensive migration plans.
2. Proficiency with migration tools for cloud. Expertise in migrating databases and data warehouses, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
3. Skills in refactoring, re-platforming, or re-architecting applications to optimize them for cloud environments.
4. Understanding of network architecture and configuration to ensure seamless connectivity during and after migration.
5. Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements to protect data during migration.
6. Ability to conduct performance testing and optimization to ensure applications run efficiently in the cloud.
7. Experience in setting up and testing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

3. Service Delivery - 15%

Parameters:

1. Demonstrate the ability to code and script effectively.
2. Show proficiency in using and creating APIs.
3. Act as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to create automation that enhances service delivery and monitors legacy and on-premises systems.
4. Resolve incidents as an SRE.
5. Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues for large enterprises.
6. Ability to provide project reports to senior management in business terms.
7. Proficient in handling and resolving escalations.
8. Capable of working as a technical project manager when required.
