The TELUS Data & Trust Office provides world-class, innovative privacy solutions to TELUS. We partner with teams across the organization to advance our corporate priorities, support innovation, and deliver on our promise to safeguard our customers' privacy and earn their trust. As the Technology Architect, Responsible AI, reporting to the Director of Data Ethics, you will work with a cross-functional group focused on enabling a framework for responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and guiding the development of AI, data-driven products, and services in accordance with ethical principles.

You will champion responsible AI across the organization and advocate for TELUS’ Trust Model as the fundamental driver for all decisions around data, recognizing the importance of customer and team member trust. Your commitment to responsible AI will support our business needs and social capitalism position, helping implement AI solutions that are ethical, responsible, and beneficial to society.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI solutions aligned with TELUS’ Trust Model and data ethics framework.
  • Advise on how responsible AI can enable business operations and assist with organization-wide deployment.
  • Develop and implement testing and validation protocols for AI systems.
  • Stay current with developments in AI ethics and responsible AI practices through research.
  • Support the development of TELUS’ framework for responsible AI based on emerging best practices.
  • Educate and advise business units on techniques and strategies for responsible AI implementation.
  • Participate in industry efforts to advance responsible AI standards.

What you bring

  • Proven expertise in embedding responsible AI into products and services with measurable outcomes in complex stakeholder environments.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI fundamentals (e.g., adversarial testing, fairness, explainability, privacy) and machine learning pipelines.
  • Experience with tools analyzing bias and fairness in predictive ML and LLMs.
  • Passion for responsible AI and data-driven problem solving.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and motivation to implement innovative solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills, capable of distilling complex issues.
  • Effective influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • 3-5 years of experience in responsible AI or AI Ethics.
  • Post-secondary degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, ethics, or related field.

Great-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare data and AI impact/risk assessment protocols.
  • Experience with AI development, data management, and cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS).
  • Certifications in Privacy or AI/Data Governance (e.g., CDPSE, CIPT, AIGP).

Location: Any major Canadian city

Salary Range: $87,000-$131,000

Performance Bonus/Sales Incentive: 12%
