This remote contract role is fully remote. Candidates must reside in Canada and provide their own computer.
The purpose of this role is to acquire HL7 FHIR resources with expertise in FHIR standards and awareness of applicable Terminology standards. The selected candidate will work with others to support the Digital Health Standards (DHS) Program, delivering standards components related to specifications on the Digital Health Standards Program Workplan.
Must Haves
- Extensive knowledge of digital health standards including HL7 FHIR, SNOMED-CT, LOINC, and their applications.
- Healthcare experience within Canada in acute, primary, or community care settings.
- Knowledge of pan-Canadian digital health standards and tooling.
- Hands-on experience with HL7 FHIR tooling such as Simplifier, HL7 Validator, and Forge.
- Proficiency with JSON and XML.
- Experience with interoperability standards gap analysis, environmental scans, and developing HL7 FHIR implementation guides.
- Experience implementing HL7 FHIR standards and solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong partner engagement abilities.
- Time management skills to handle tight deadlines and multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Gather requirements, develop documentation, and conduct partner engagement.
- Collaborate with partners and subject matter experts from various backgrounds.
- Understand and analyze business needs and requirements.
- Develop and document HL7 FHIR artifacts and supporting documentation.
- Validate, troubleshoot, and problem-solve HL7 FHIR artifacts.
Desired Skills

- Implementing interoperable digital health solutions and assessing system readiness.
- Knowledge of terminology standards like LOINC and SNOMED CT.
- Understanding of the standards lifecycle and digital health initiatives.
