About the opportunity :

This role will be based at our R&D center in Montreal. We are looking for a CAD & Design Engineering Technician to join our Fiber and Copper Connectivity Product Development Engineering team to support technical documentation, produce prototypes, and run tests as needed.

This position requires a full-time on-site presence.

Our Engineering Technician will have an impact in the following ways :

• Design and modify 3D models and 2D technical drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Develop technical documents for customers, such as product data sheets and installation guides.
• Respond to urgent requests from commercial teams for standard product numbers creation and structuring.
• Communicate directly with suppliers for model and design exchanges.
• Manage projects for custom product design and/or improvements.
• Design and improve reference documents used in product design such as: assembly procedures, test reports, packaging requirements, etc.
• Evaluate product compliance to industry directives such as ROHS, REACH, LEED, UL, etc.
• Manage our database of industry standards documents.
• Assemble and validate mechanical prototypes in the laboratory.
• Support the maintenance of the CAD system database.
• Create automated tools to improve day-to-day efficiency.

What we ask that will bring :

• Technical College Studies Diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Drafting, Industrial Design or equivalent.
• At least three (3) years of experience in 2D and 3D technical drawing in the industry.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and knowledge of EPDM SolidWorks.
• Ability to communicate in French and English.
• Knowledge of tolerancing, plastic molding, sheet metal.
• Knowledge of programming on Excel and other databases.
• Understanding of industry standards and directives in general.
• Adherence to ISO procedures.
