(Two-Year Contractual Position)

This competition may be used to fill identical positions in this unit within three (3) months of the closing date

DUTIES

Under general supervision, the Technologist II will perform skilled work in the design, fabrication, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, certification, calibration, modification, and installation of electronic equipment and infrastructure throughout the University. Duties include repairing laboratory equipment; installing structured data network cabling and related infrastructure; fabricating and testing custom research apparatus; testing and maintenance of safety systems such as fume hoods or biological safety cabinets; assisting in the design, programming, and fabrication of custom microcontroller-operated devices; and performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Experience (3-5 years) at a skilled level in the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, testing, modification, and installation of electronic equipment; completion of a three-year program in Electronics Technology; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Strong troubleshooting skills, a commitment to safe work practices, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients are essential. Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, PLCs, or coding, and experience in a university, college, or laboratory environment are considered assets.

SALARY $60,091- $67,257 per annum (CUPE 1615)
