Position Overview

As a Technologist – MRS Compliance at FortisBC, you will integrate business requirements into technology and ensure smooth business operations concerning the BCUC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards. You will analyze, design, configure, implement, and maintain information systems, data centres, virtual infrastructures, networking components, and security. The role requires a commitment to continuous learning about CIP Standards, assessing technologies, and liaising with end users, analysts, vendors, and security groups to meet desired outcomes. Ultimately, you will help ensure ongoing CIP compliance across applications and environments within FortisBC.

Responsibilities
  • Guide and train junior employees; support Electric Operations Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) environments.
  • Provide technical support, system administration, and development; evaluate SCADA hardware, software, and communications; develop manuals and procedures; manage system security; implement environment changes including bug fixes, patches, upgrades, and security enhancements.
  • Lead software development, modification, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate and implement medium system upgrades and integrations aligned with strategic changes or CIP Standards.
  • Perform complex technical and statistical analyses; prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships, discuss business practices, and monitor pilots.
  • Maintain knowledge of BCUC CIP Standards; assist in audits, compliance documentation, and response to security incidents; support the maturation of the compliance program.
  • Perform related minor duties as required.
Requirements
  • Recognized diploma in Computer Systems Technology.
  • Four years of relevant technology experience.
  • Ability to obtain GCIP Certification within 3 years.
  • Relevant industry certifications are an asset.
  • Immediate knowledge of Data Centre technologies, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, security, and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting and database query languages.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing small to medium projects.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
