Job Profile
Under limited supervision of the Supervisor of Drafting & Graphics Services, and the Senior Drawing Control Technologist, this Technologist 1 position maintains departmental Record Drawings in EDMA (Electronic Drawing Management Application), participates in the Underground Structure drawing review and Drawing Acceptance processes, undertakes computer-aided drafting (CAD) assignments, and satisfies requests for engineering record information.
As The Technologist 1you Will
- Perform data entry and data maintenance duties in conjunction with the Department’s engineering record drawing document management application (EDMA).
- Perform information searches in EDMA for engineering drawing information, as requested.
- Participate in the circulation and review and acceptance of record drawing submissions.
- Update the Department’s record drawing tracking spreadsheet and the project databases by using Microsoft Excel and GeoMedia Pro.
- Scan paper drawings to a digital format Undertake full size document scanning requests.
- Participates and assists in the Underground Structure construction drawing approval process following a documented process.
- Assigns Drawing numbers and updates the spreadsheet, as required.
- Assist in creating and maintaining GIS polygons for senior Drawing Control Staff.
- Perform other related duties consistent with the position, as assigned.
Your Education And Qualifications Include
- Graduate of Engineering Technology program from a recognized Institute of Technology, and eligible for membership in CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Certified Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.).
- Minimum of three (3) years of relevant technical experience relating to civil/municipal engineering.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of AutoCAD drafting software.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of GIS software, such as Intergraph GeoMedia Pro.
- Experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Access and Word.
- Knowledge of the general concept of GIS.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out project work as directed and to prepare and complete required reports and records.
- General knowledge of the Water and Waste Department’s existing water and sewer infrastructure and plant facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, execute and communicate oral and written instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand engineering drawings, legal plans and descriptions, specifications, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Policy.
