Qualifications

Human Resources Technician – Absence and Disability Management (Administration Technician - Absence Management)
THE OPPORTUNITY

In this Human Resources role, you will support the administration of employee absences, disability management and occupational health and safety activities. You will help ensure that leave requests, employee records and related processes comply with Board policies, collective agreements and applicable Quebec legislation. The role involves handling confidential information, resolving administrative issues, preparing reports and supporting employees throughout absence and return-to-work processes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Process and monitor employee absence requests, including sick leave, personal leave and other types of leave, in accordance with Board policies, procedures and collective agreements.
  • Maintain and update employee absence records in administrative systems, ensuring the accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of all documentation.
  • Review and maintain medical certificates, leave requests and supporting documentation, and follow up on missing or incomplete information.
  • Support the administration of salary insurance, disability management, workplace injuries and automobile accident files involving CNESST, SAAQ and IVAC.
  • Assist employees and managers with absence management procedures, explain applicable policies and administrative requirements, and help resolve discrepancies or questions related to leave entitlements.
  • Prepare reports on employee absences, trends and patterns to support administrative review and decision-making.
  • Support return-to-work and light or modified-duty processes, occupational medical evaluations and CNESST audit activities.
  • Coordinate occupational health and safety activities and help organize and distribute safety training materials and programs in accordance with legal requirements and Board procedures.
  • Assist with the implementation and application of absence management policies, procedures and administrative practices.
  • Collaborate with the HR Coordinator, payroll, medical and legal advisors, and external organizations on absence management, workplace safety and disability-related matters.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of absence management practices by keeping up to date with relevant legislation, policies, systems and best practices.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hold a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Business Administration, with an option appropriate to the class of employment, or a diploma or attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English and French.
  • Be familiar with CNESST, SAAQ and IVAC legislation, regulations and procedures.
  • Be able to interpret and apply Board policies, procedures, collective agreements and administrative requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple files, projects and deadlines.
  • Have strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and find practical solutions.
  • Be comfortable working with confidential information, employee records, administrative systems and HRIS platforms.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be able to communicate and support employees and managers in understanding absence management procedures and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, sound judgment and a strong sense of responsibility.
WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

EFFECTIVE START DATE:

Immediately until June 30, 2027, or the return of the person being replaced.
