R&D and Quality Assurance Technician

Schedule : Full-time – 40 hours / week

Location : Hybrid – 1 day / week at Brossard HQ, 3–4 days remote and / or plant visits (Montreal, Lachute, Ontario)

Department : R&D

Reports to : Director of Innovation

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Innovation, the R&D and Quality Assurance Technician plays a key role between product development and quality operations. This role combines :

  • New recipe creation and optimization in a product innovation context
  • Quality control oversight during production and management of the quality system

Profile and Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Food Processing, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food manufacturing
  • Familiarity with HACCP, SQF, GMP, Canadian Food & Drug Regulations
  • Bilingual in French and English (oral and written)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Strong analytical mindset, scientific rigor, autonomy, and attention to detail
  • Organized, solution-oriented, and collaborative

Key ResponsibilitiesResearch & Development

  • Develop and improve recipes
  • Suggest improvements based on trends, data, or consumer feedback
  • Present product iterations to the internal team
  • Conduct lab and pilot-scale tests in collaboration with operations
  • Adjust formulations to meet industrial requirements
  • Validate recipe costs, production time, and operational feasibility
  • Document trials and create technical specifications
  • Validate regulatory compliance of packaging

Quality Control – Production

  • Perform plant audits to ensure compliance with Evive standards
  • Conduct batch testing (organoleptic and metric)
  • Analyze lab results and release finished products
  • Investigate complaints and non-conformities with suppliers, production, or logistics
  • Validate first productions (new recipes, process changes, new ingredients)

Quality Control – Inputs and Suppliers

  • Maintain and update the approved supplier list
  • Validate ingredient COAs and compliance with internal specifications
  • Evaluate supplier quality performance and address gaps
  • Resolve issues with raw materials and packaging

Quality System

  • Maintain and improve QA programs (HACCP, certifications)
  • Ensure proper quality procedures in documentation and production
  • Manage third-party certifications (Ecocert, Non-GMO, etc.)
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions with cross-functional teams
