Job Description

Person responsible for designing and executing technical, artistic, and educational work in the field of applied and graphic arts. They may consult with staff as needed for the design of printed materials and visual presentations.

The technician works within the CIUSSS du Nord de l'île de Montréal printing department, ensuring the technical preparation of documents before printing (prepress), executing printing tasks, managing internal orders, and supervising document inventory. They also play a key role in advising and managing printing projects, including outsourcing, providing quality customer service. The position is based at Rivière des Prairies Hospital in Montreal.

The printing service produces a wide range of printed materials such as forms, flyers, posters, educational, and promotional documents to support healthcare, education, and information dissemination to users and staff.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare files for printing (prepress), ensuring technical compliance (graphic charter, resolution, margins, colors, formats, etc.);
• Perform printing tasks on specialized printing equipment;
• Carry out finishing steps (trimming, folding, assembly, binding, etc.);
• Follow up on internal orders: reception, processing, printing, finishing, and distribution;
• Manage inventory of forms, brochures, posters, and other printed documents;
• Plan, coordinate, and monitor printing projects in collaboration with various departments;
• Provide professional and personalized customer service, advising teams on the best printing solutions;
• Ensure deadlines are met by monitoring the production schedule;
• Coordinate outsourcing projects with external printing suppliers, including requesting quotes, overseeing production, and receiving deliverables;
• Collaborate closely with the printing team and other services, fostering cooperation, respect, and efficiency;
• Maintain printing equipment in good working order and report any issues;
• Adhere to quality standards, internal procedures, and health and safety rules.

Requirements

• Hold a college diploma (DEC) in graphic design or a related discipline from a recognized institution, or a DEC combined with a relevant undergraduate university certificate or an AEC of at least 800 hours with relevant experience;
• Portfolio demonstrating creative skills and talent;
• Significant experience in a printing environment (production, finishing, order management) and graphic design (prepress, visual creation, layout) - at least 2 years;
• Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); Mac and Windows environments, Office Suite;
• Knowledge of printing processes, finishing techniques, and production stages;
• Knowledge of digital accessibility standards (an asset).
