Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Location: 7150 Frederick Banting, Suite 101, Montreal, QC H4S 2A1, CAN

Objective: The role involves preparing samples for analysis and maintaining documentation to ensure traceability of procedures.

Main Activities:
  • Prepare samples by recording, weighing, and homogenizing.
  • Label plates or tubes to track client and sample numbers.
  • Use pipettes to create dilutions according to analysis protocols.
  • Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate growth.
  • Incubate plates and tubes at specified times and temperatures.
  • Prepare media and broths for pathogen testing as needed.
  • Ensure readiness of media and equipment for subsequent tests.
  • Update laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Check equipment and materials prior to analysis.
  • Read plates and tubes to determine microorganism counts.
  • Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain cleanliness and disinfect work areas and equipment.
  • Participate in cleaning schedules and sample storage.
  • Follow all safety policies.
  • Assist management in system implementation and improvement.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.
Your Profile

Qualifications: College diploma or equivalent experience with at least one year of relevant experience. Basic scientific knowledge for precise testing. Basic computer skills for data entry. Knowledge of laboratory safety policies. Planning skills for stock management and timely analysis.

Skills: Time management, prioritization, attention to detail, analytical skills, basic LIMS knowledge, physical dexterity.

Work Environment: Laboratory setting with appropriate lighting and temperature. Exposure to vapors, chemicals, and laboratory materials. Use of safety equipment. Ability to lift up to 22.7 kg and stand for long periods. Ability to detect slight color variations.
