Job Summary

As a Waste Management Technician for our Maintenance team located at the Laval site, you will ensure hazardous materials are discarded according to all relevant rules and policies. You will also train and coach employees to protect them from dangers related to hazardous materials commonly used at work.

Primary Responsibilities include:

1. Ensure compliance and appropriate safety conditions in the hazardous waste storage room.
2. Regularly inspect the hazardous waste storage room to ensure proper separation of different types of dangerous products (acid, basic, flammable, oxidizer, reducer, organic waste, radioactive, reactive, etc.).
3. Recover all hazardous waste containers from internal departments.
4. Ensure identification of waste containers is compliant.
5. Coordinate the recovery of hazardous waste and organic materials with suppliers.
6. Clean up any spills during operations.
7. Collect water samples for analysis.

Job Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this role:

1. High school diploma with a degree in science (chemistry/biology).
2. Good knowledge of WHMIS 2015.
3. Team player with a collaborative and positive approach.
4. Fluent in French and English.
5. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Role Specific Information:

• Location: 445 Boul. Armand-Frappier, Laval, QC, H7V 4B3
• Transportation: Free parking, near Montmorency Subway, electric vehicle charging station.
• Salary: $24/hr
• Schedule: Monday 6:00 - 14:15, Tuesday to Friday 7:00 - 15:15
• Position: Permanent, full-time 37.5 hrs/week
• Physical requirement: Regular lifting of waste containers up to 25 kg
