Job summary

A mining company in Canada is seeking a Mine Engineering Technician to support underground and open pit mining operations. Job description

Reporting to the Coordinator, Underground Mine Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for carrying out various field-based assignments for the underground and open pit mines to support production and engineering activities. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Execute the daily tasks associated with supporting engineering and operations, such as underground or open pit surveying, stope mark-up, conducting a CMS, drill hole deviation measurement, and mine layout creation/updates;
  • Complete ventilation surveys and model updates as required;
  • Perform volumetric and other calculations to support a variety of engineering analyses;
  • Monthly (or bi-monthly) survey advance updates for month-end purposes and special projects;
  • Create surface as-built drawings of waste dumps, ore piles, and other surface infrastructure;
  • Special projects according to the needs of the Engineering or Mine Department;
  • Promote health and safety by participating in the monthly departmental health and safety meetings;
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of precision and professionalism.
  • College Diploma in Mine Engineering/Technology;
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and mine design/planning software;
  • Open pit or underground mining experience;
  • Ontario Common Core or Québec FMTM modules are considered an asset;
  • Drone experience is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Deswik software is considered an asset;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 14 days of work of 12 hours’ shifts, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
