Job description

Wind Turbine Technician II

Required Responsibilities
  • Act as a safety partner by intervening when unsafe acts are practiced. Always promote and demonstrate safe behavior and practices. Assist Site and QSE management in determining RCAs and corrective actions for investigations.
  • Complete all safety training assigned. Act as a resource for junior technicians when questions arise.
  • Utilize all PPE as required by Work Instructions and QSE Manual. Provide input regarding any discrepancies found in Work Instructions or PPE sheets.
  • Support continuous improvement activities, including development of best practices.
  • Build and maintain effective internal partnerships. Refer complex issues or customer inquiries to higher-level technical staff or management, demonstrating good customer focus and improving satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Navigate and input all required data through MyTime and MyTask, including different cost allocations (e.g., SO's).
  • Access and use online tools (Toolkit, SAP, VOB, VGA, VIS, VTM, etc.).
  • Understand how dashboards impact site operations (alarms, warnings, fleet, service orders, labor efficiency, etc.).
  • Use Insite Toolbox effectively.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and mentorship.
  • Follow Work Instructions and propose adjustments or improvements as needed (e.g., PTP).
  • Enter and follow up on TSL and CIR.
  • Support specialty jobs (e.g., crane work, CIM projects).
  • Take responsibility to utilize available tools for growth and learning, supporting team efforts.
  • Promote a positive team environment across departments, assisting teammates and mentoring lower-level staff.
Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years of technical wind industry experience OR three years working with hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and composite skills; or two years of wind industry experience plus a Wind Technician certificate.
  • Complete internal training/certificates: LOTO II, D-Service, TBC Core 100 & 200, Turbine specific 100 & 200; external candidates must complete these within 6 months.
  • Intermediate knowledge of industrial safety practices (Confined Space, Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Experience with electrical, hydraulic, mechanical systems and related tools; ability to train others.
  • Valid driver’s license; passport preferred.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and schematics to ensure safety and proper work execution.

Competencies Required
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders up to 125 meters (400 feet).
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, bend, and manipulate tools in demanding conditions.
  • Comfort working remotely in turbines with limited supervision.
  • Total weight with PPE should not exceed 300 lbs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Reliable attendance and valid driver’s license.
