Our GFL Emergency Response division is seeking Emergency Response Technicians to join our team in Kitchener, ON. We are looking for responsible and reliable candidates to provide emergency response support for our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct environmental clean-up activities.
- Mitigate hazardous-material incidents.
- Perform chemical transfers.
- Engage in technical rescue activities.
- Participate in chemical firefighting tasks.
- Provide dangerous goods consulting.
- Participate in various industrial services.
- Respond to emergencies as required.
- Attend job-specific and health & safety training.
- Operate in an efficient and safe manner.
- Participate in standby confined space rescue work.
- Complete documentation and reporting related to work performed.
- Follow organizational policies and procedures.
Organizational Support and Safety:
- Support the organization’s vision and values.

- Perform work safely to protect oneself and others.
- Report hazards, accidents, or risks.
- Adhere to relevant safety legislation and policies.
- Participate in team meetings when required.
- Maintain confidentiality and minimize risks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Post-secondary education in a related field preferred.
- Pre-service Fire, Medical, or Police training.
- NFPA 472 Hazardous Material Operations certification.
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 or 2 certification.
- Availability for on-call emergency response.
- Hazardous materials/environmental experience is an asset.
- Vacuum truck experience is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confined space awareness.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Participate in drug and alcohol testing as required.
- Customer-focused, professional, trustworthy, and team-oriented.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
