Job summary

Lakeside Controls is seeking a Technician, Combustion Services to perform on-site configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting for boiler and burner applications in Hamilton, Ontario. The role requires travel, after-hours coverage and a strong customer-service focus.

Applicants should hold G1 Gas certification, at least three years of experience, and be proficient with Burner Management Systems, CSA B149 compliance, and related instrumentation.

Qualifications

• G1 Gas certification required, OBT 1/2/3 are assets
• Minimum three years' prior experience in combustion services
• Strong customer service and advanced troubleshooting abilities
• Understanding of CSA B149 code and safety standards
• Familiarity with Burner Management Systems and related controls
• Able to read diagrams/technical documentation and implement configurations
• Capable of working nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call emergencies
• Willingness to travel for on-site service and customers
• Proficient with basic computer operations and common software

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site service: configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting
• Perform maintenance contract work and customer service for boilers and burners
• Install, configure, calibrate, and maintain measurement and control instrumentation
• Calibrate components and systems and respond to emergencies as needed
• Work with customer personnel across departments to deliver service
• Promote Lakeside services and ensure timely resolution of concerns
• Possibly work outdoors in inclement weather and at heights
• Collaborate with team and maintain strong customer relationships

Job description

What you will be doing in the role of Technician, Combustion Services:

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• On-site services including configuration, commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Some travel, overtime and after-hours coverage would be required
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call to respond to emergencies when required
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather
• Following through with customer maintenance contract work
• Consulting diagrams and technical documentation such as schematics, manuals, standards and codes
• Installing, configuring, calibrating and maintaining control, measurement and indicating instrumentation (pneumatic, analog & digital including HART)
• Calibrating components and systems
• G1 Gas Technician (Strong G2 may be considered) license to support industrial boiler & burner applications and customers
• Maintaining sound working relationships with customer's personnel in various functional departments, such as: engineering, purchasing and maintenance.
• Providing a premier level of customer service
• Timely resolution of all customer concerns

• Performing other duties supportive of main objectives, as assigned

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

• G1 Gas certification, (OBT 1,2,3 an asset)
• Minimum three (3) years' prior experience
• Strong customer service skills
• Advanced troubleshooting abilities
• Intermediate understanding & implementation of CSA B149 Code
• Able to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights
• Configuration/Set-up & Troubleshooting knowledge on various Burner Management Systems & Controls including but not limited to Honeywell 7800, Fireye Nexus, & Siemens LMV
• Knowledge on measurement devices (Flow, pressure, temperature, level, analytical, control valves & positioners)
• Understanding of electronics and basic electrical requirement
• Ability to make recommendations & combustion curve changes based on portable gas analyzer data
• Knowledge of process control
• Strong ability to troubleshoot problems, provide results & recommendations to customers
• Previous exposure to programming & wiring of PLC's, DCS's and single loop controllers would be an asset
• Proficient in computer operating systems (DOS, VMS, Windows)
• Proficient in software applications (word processing, spreadsheet)
• Training and Presentation skills
• Project Management skills
