Job description

About the Position

The Technician Assistant 1 will assist in day-to-day operation of the laboratory and contribute to the overall productivity of the lab.

Specific Responsibilities

• General laboratory clean-up and maintenance;
• Assist Technicians in the processing of samples according to SOPs;
• Keep registers up to date;
• Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
• Other duties as assigned.

Able to work independently and as part of a team;

Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);

Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Required Qualifications

High School graduation required with some chemistry;

College Diploma or University Degree an asset;

Chemical or laboratory background is an asset;

Physical Demands

Manual dexterity to perform intricate and / or repetitive tasks;

Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;

Ability to stand for a full shift;

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and carry for short distances;

You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
