Job Description

As a Technician, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the creative and production aspects of the design process. Your responsibilities will include interpreting design concepts into technical specifications, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and ensuring the seamless transition from design to production. You should have a strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and fit development, with excellent communication and collaborative skills. You are detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality and precision, and able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

This is a 3-month contract role until September 2025, with the possibility of extension.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with designers and production teams to ensure the design aligns with technical feasibility.
  • Create and maintain accurate tech packs, including grade rules, construction details, and material specifications.
  • Conduct fit sessions, analyze prototypes, and provide constructive feedback to achieve optimal fit, function, and aesthetics.
  • Collaborate with team and vendors to meet design and quality standards.
  • Manage wearer trials.
  • Resolve technical issues during production and fitting, ensuring timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensure effective communication with vendors regarding timelines.
  • Coordinate model bookings for fitting and send out detailed fit schedules, including dates and times.
  • Follow up on supplier technical queries for timely resolutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product Development and Sourcing to track production approvals to meet ex-factory dates.
  • Complete WIP reports and trackers with fit and approval dates.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and production techniques to enhance design and manufacturing processes.
  • Raise product or delivery issues to the Director, Design & PD.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Apparel Design or Production.
  • 6+ years of experience in technical fit, patternmaking, and construction of apparel, including hats and accessories.
  • Experience with PLM systems is an asset.
  • Experience with high-quality branded apparel and accessories.
  • Travel and hands-on experience with offshore manufacturing and domestic production.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
