The CAMH Clinical Laboratory is recruiting a full-time, temporary (12 months) medical laboratory assistant / technician (MLA / T), Technician 3. Duties include : phlebotomy, performing ECG’s, and performing all aspects of the pre-analytic workflow to ensure orders are entered correctly and that specimens collected are appropriate for the tests ordered. You will also perform other duties as required. The candidate will apply the CAMH values and professional practice standards to patient / client care and service. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. This position is located at the Queen Street Site or College Street Site as per laboratory schedule.
Minimum Requirements
The successful candidate will possess certification from the OSMT as a Medical Laboratory Assistant / Technician (MLA / T). The successful candidate understands and applies the requirements of the laboratory quality management system; has excellent interpersonal and communication skills; works well in a busy environment; has organizational skills, and prioritizes tasks to ensure good and prompt patient care while achieving high work efficiency; has demonstrated computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, has good knowledge of the laboratory information system; shows independent judgment, and deductive reasoning with attention to details. The ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary. Bilingualism (French / English) and / or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
