Stream-Flo is one of the largest privately held companies providing equipment to the worldwide oil and gas industry. We are looking for a Technical Writer to support our Research and Development Department. This is a 6 month temporary position with the possibility of extension. For the right candidate, this position can be performed remotely, hybrid or in-house.

Key Position Functions Include

  • Responsible for writing, updating, and maintaining Research and Development technical documents, focused on reports.
  • Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other engineering and R&D lab staff.
  • Create standards/templates as required.
  • Ensure customer requirements are understood and incorporated into the deliverables.
  • Work with R&D Lab team and Engineering team members to complete R&D reports based on completed testing data and lab notes.
  • May work on additional technical documentation such as test procedures, or aspects of test procedures.
  • Select and incorporate photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts that are relevant to the R&D report.
  • Reduce collected data and prepare relevant plots for the reports.
  • Study drawings, Stream-Flo and customer specifications, product samples, and experimental data and activities to define key information required in the R&D reports.
  • Maintain the R&D report documentation on SharePoint.

Preferred Candidates Will Possess a Combination Of The Following

  • Diploma or Degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline from a recognized technical institute, EDDT or Mechanical Eng/Tech is an asset.
  • Diploma or Degree in fields of Applied Communications, English, or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Experience working in R&D lab setting and report generation is an asset.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with wellhead equipment and valves would be an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage time and adapt to changing priorities.
