Job summary

KF Aerospace in Kelowna seeks a Technical Writer to maintain and update manuals for current and future aircraft design projects. You will develop new and supplemental documents from engineering data and OEM sources, focusing on accuracy and publication readiness.

The role requires translating avionic details into clear maintenance text, working from wiring diagrams, and using Access and illustration software to produce parts catalogs and annotated illustrations.

Qualifications

• Experience translating OEM avionic documentation into maintenance and operations manuals.
• Ability to work from engineering drawings and wiring diagrams into textual content.
• Familiarity with aerospace publication standards (ATA 100) and SGML is a plus.
• Proficiency with illustrating parts catalogs and annotating illustrations.

Responsibilities

• Produce OEM manual updates for the Convair CV580 including Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Flight Manuals and Service Bulletins.
• Create stand-alone supplements to support modifications and installations on various aircraft types.
• Maintain records of publications production and revision status.
• Ensure accurate linking and publication readiness for intranet distribution.

Salary Range: $74,580.00 To $93,225.00 Annually

JOB OVERVIEW

The Technical Writer is responsible for maintaining/updating various KF Aerospace manuals and the development of new and supplemental documents for current and future design projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce OEM manual updates for the Convair CV580 airplane that include: Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogues, Flight Manuals, and Service Bulletins
• Produce stand-alone supplements to support modification/installations on various aircraft types
• Maintain good records of publications production
• Maintain control of manual revision status

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Skills

• Avionics experience would be a definite asset
• Work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and other source data
• Interpret OEM avionic documentation into usable text for maintenance and operational manuals
• Use Access to produce illustrated parts catalogue databases
• Use illustration software for annotating illustrated parts list and other illustrations
• Familiar with ATA 100 and other aerospace publication specifications
• Familiarity with SGML documentation an asset
• Produce linked documents in Acrobat for intranet publication

SALARY

The wage band is KF level 9 $74,580-$93,225. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
