Dive into an exciting role as a Technical Support Developer-IT Operations . Reporting to the Head of Operations, you’ll ride the waves of success alongside a dynamic team. Your mission? Provide hands-on expertise to teams across the SkillsWave organization. In partnership with key business stakeholders, this role will support employee hardware and third-party corporate systems and, when applicable, perform the necessary software development / integrations to release reliable, high-quality solutions that enable strong internal business outcomes.

  • Note : This role does require the successful candidate to hold an Ontario G2 license to assist with any hardware deliveries as necessary.

Your Location, Your Workspace, Your Wave :

This role is located in our beautiful Kitchener HQ location. Join us in the office for a minimum of 3 days a week (may require up to 5 days a week depending on organization demands) and then catch the wave from home the rest of the time.

How Will You Make an Impact :

  • Be the first line of support for employee questions with our existing third-party corporate software solving both technical and non-technical challenges.
  • Perform hands-on support and manage hardware inventory for onsite and remote employee corporate hardware.
  • Become an expert regarding the security posture of our corporate systems and action improvements and automated monitoring as necessary. Participate in security audits as required.
  • Implement automation workflows to reduce touchpoints and harden security around system access.
  • Learn and / or provide the necessary expertise to build / maintain integrations between corporate systems based on standards and methodologies as required.
  • Contribute to team processes and actively participate in analysis, with ability to communicate technical information across teams.
  • Document and maintain how-to guides for employees for common support issues.
  • Be the primary contact for Landlord facilities personnel for in-office wifi network issues.

What You Need to Be Successful :

  • Must have 2+ years of experience with Azure / O365 / MS office administration.
  • 2+ years of coding – Ability to demonstrate proficiency in core technologies leveraged (i.e. : SQL, Azure, etc.).
  • 2+ years experience with third-party software integrations (API development, or integration tooling such as Zapier, Workato, etc.).
  • Quickly be able to learn the technology and tools used at SkillsWave (prior hands-on experience with JIRA, Hubspot, Rippling HRIS is an asset).

Your Super Skills and The Wave-Riding Expertise We Need! :

  • Advanced knowledge in JIRA to help manage IT ops work, be able to report on progress of internal support issues and integration development requests on a weekly basis.
  • Debugging – Reading code effectively to reason out where a bug lies, knows where to begin investigations into problems and takes a pragmatic approach.
  • Architectural Design – working with team members to understand how to architect a secure and performant third-party solution / integration.
  • Security – Understanding security best practices and implements best practices as required.
  • Privacy – Understands PII and how we need to handle private data.
  • Organization - Can follow existing and create new patterns to improve data / knowledge organization across team, department, and company as a whole.
  • Experience with source control (GitHub) and working in CI / CD environments (GitHub Actions) is considered an asset.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals including OO design, data structures, algorithms, databases, distributed systems, security, caching, human computer interaction.

The salary for this position is in the range of $80,000 to $90,000. The salary range is based on the minimum level of work experience and qualifications as listed above. This salaried position requires a minimum of 40 hours of work per week. More senior candidates may apply but note that the salary for the position has been set at the range listed.
