Job summary

Fanshawe College is seeking a skilled aviation maintenance technician to support CAF - Fanshawe programs in Borden, Ontario. The role focuses on avionics tools, maintenance, and safety compliance within a dynamic learning environment.

The incumbent will service and repair avionics equipment, maintain records, and assist instructors and students in lab settings while upholding safety requirements and college procedures.

Qualifications

• Avionics maintenance experience required.
• AME-E/AME-M2 certification or equivalent required.
• Military industry experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and repairs for aviation tools and equipment.
• Maintain and update maintenance records for aircraft and equipment.
• Order replacement parts and maintain safety data sheets for labs.
• Develop and demonstrate training aids for aviation courses.
• Assist faculty with large classes and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Job Description:

Location: Borden, Ontario

Support Staff employees, as defined by the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement, will be given first consideration.

Note: 1 vacancy available. This position is deemed a critical vacancy.

Payband: This position is paid at Payband J, $44.48 - $51.40 per hour.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Why this Role is Important

Under the general supervision of the Project's Senior Leader, the incumbent provides technical support and assistance to staff, faculty and students in the daily operations, maintenance, organization and implementation of Aviation related programs in CAF - Fanshawe. The incumbent will service and repair tools and equipment in the school which may include ordering/purchasing of parts, designing and building training aides.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Provides technical support to CAF - Fanshawe
• Technology that includes:
• Service and repair all Avionics tools and equipment (install, clean, adjust, dismantle, recondition, repair/rebuild/replace parts, assemble and test as required)
• Record maintenance and repair activities for aircraft/equipment
• Requisition maintenance supplies as required
• Tool control
• Develops instructional aids to demonstrate techniques and prepares materials for related classes
• Assist professors with large classes by demonstrating use of tools, equipment or techniques related to learning objectives taught in classrooms and lab spaces. Monitors students to ensure they adhere to safety requirements.
• Demonstrate tools, equipment or techniques to other staff to ensure the use of specific tool and lab equipment conforms to College safe operating procedures, manufacturer specifications or specific conditions that may be unique to the individual piece of equipment.
• Prepare and maintain a suitable preventative maintenance program for related program equipment. Maintain Safety Data Sheets for assigned labs.
• Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

• Certified and maintained Aviation Maintenance Engineering - AME-E or AME-M2 with avionics experience
• 5 years of recent related avionics experience
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Military industry experience is an asset
